This Charming Man book Review
If you liked the first book, which I did, you’ll like the sequel as the recipe is unchanged. Baincroft is a joy to read, and other other characters remain likable with their moments of comedy sprinkled throughout.
There’s some more world building in this book, expanding our understanding of the setting, but its fairly superficial with mentions of old powers reawakening (albeit these are relevant to the plot) and a group that fought in the Founder/folk wars of old. This lack of in-depth, creative/distinctive world building won’t bother many readers, but its something I wish there was more of. I want to be interested in the world a story is set in, and right now I’m just not.
That criticism aside, This Charming Man in fun, and often funny, and progresses along at a nice pace.
