High-fantasy book review

Enjoyable, mostly lighthearted and consistently amusing, Small Miracle is just a fun indie-fantasy book that is relatively short read.

The characters are full of personality (Gadriel, our MC, especially) and immensely likable, with strong motivations. There many scenes and interactions where their personalities and those motivations are put on display.

This indie-fantasy book’s inspiration taken from Good Omens is immediately evident, but Small Miracles distinguishes itself enough, and quickly enough that I was able to forget the connections and enjoy it based on its own merits.

I did find the romance just a tad far fetched, and how effortlessly the world accepted Gadriel’s gender fluidity (from a contect of the world not being designed around gender fluid individuals, resulting in several technical aspects being swept under the rug) being a bit too seamless.
